Glad your holiday did you so much good, though the weather now must be a bit of a shock to the system. The latter is almost unbearable. You learn very quickly (when you get back home and read the instructions for the first time!) that digital cameras don't like temperatures above 40C.

I totally (as they say) agree with you about the hotels and their staff. It is wonderful to be cosseted and fussed over. And the food was uniformly edible.

I didn't swim - Archimedes' principle precluded that! - but I did visit an organic farm in the desert, browsed in the very large Emirates Mall (where I could have gone skiing, if I had wanted to - or could) and sang a Spanish song with the manageress of the Argentinian restaurant on top of the Jumeirah Beach hotel! In the latter, the meal was accompanied by tango dancers and the singing of the kind of Argentinian songs which I imagine were normally sung by people with severe gastric pains.

There is a down side: the conditions in which the mainly Bangladeshi & Pakistani workers live leave much to be desired. But their families need the remittances they send.... and so they build the enormous buildings which litter the place, turning desert into urban sprawl.abfnoreply@blogger.com
