The tech.

This is the tech on show at the synod this year. I made a plea earlier today for some up to date training in technology for the church, the kind of stuff LTS does for secular education. There was a resounding silence. But one of the techies, ex LTS, has just thanked me - and would be available. Someone was listening!

  1. I'm thinking about doing a training event in the autumn on web 2.0 stuff. I even asked Ewan if he'd be interested in speaking... No date yet but I'll keep you posted. It would be good to know what you think should be in such a day?

  2. Personally, I'd like to know what conferencing app would be best for virtual group training sessions (theological, not techy!), what hardware you'd need to optimise the use of it; how you set it up; how participation on it works.

But you'd also need more basic stuff: Skype, conference Skype, webcams; blogging; podcasting; social groups - for the uninitiated but email- using folk.

And for the unwired, you'd need to have a stunning presentation which would bowl them over and make them determined to save the planet by cutting down on the travel needed (in our diocese especially) to have meetings to discuss things you could discuss online.

There's more, but I've jsut excaped from Synod and need to head for home ... missing the sea and the hills!
